Anton Sergejewitsch Below ( Russian Антон Сергеевич Белов ; English transcription: Anton Sergeyevich Belov ; born July 26, 1986 in Ryazan , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player . Since April 2014 he has been under contract with SKA Saint Petersburg in the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Anton Below began his career as a hockey player at HK CSKA Moscow , for whose second team he was active for the first time in the 2003/04 season in the third-class Pervaya League . During the same season he made his professional ice hockey debut when he played six games for HK Metschel Chelyabinsk in the Vysschaya League , the second Russian division. From 2004 to 2008 the defender was part of CSKA Moscow's regular squad in the Super League . In the summer of 2008, the Russian international moved to HK Awangard Omsk from the newly established Continental Hockey League , for which he played in the following five seasons. For the 2013/14 season Below signed a one-year entry contract with the Edmonton Oilers from the National Hockey League .

After this season, Below did not renew this contract and returned to his home country, where he signed a four-year contract with SKA Saint Petersburg .

International

For Russia , Below took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in 2003 and 2004 , and the 2005 U20 World Junior Championship .

In the senior sector he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2007 and 2008 . He completed his first men's world championship in 2013 and was nominated for the Olympic squad for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in winter 2012/14 . He also took part in the 2014 World Cup, where he won the gold medal and was elected to the All-Star team.
