Christian Jonas Berglund (born March 12, 1980 in Örebro ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with BIK Karlskoga in HockeyAllsvenskan since April 2014 .

Career

Christian Berglund began his career as an ice hockey player in the junior division of the Kristinehamns hockey team, for whose first team he made his debut in the then third-rate Division 2 in the 1995/96 season . Then the attacker received a contract with Färjestad BK , for which he was in a game of the Elitserien for the first time in the 1997/98 season on the ice. In the following years, the left shooter was able to earn a regular place at Färjestad, with which he had to admit defeat in the 2001 championship final Djurgårdens IF .

From 2001 to 2004 Berglund played in the National Hockey League for the New Jersey Devils , who had selected him in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a 37th player. In his first two seasons in the Devils franchise , the Swede ran in parallel for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Albany River Rats . On March 1, 2004, he was finally transferred to the Florida Panthers , for which he scored three goals in ten games by the end of the 2003/04 season and was a template.

After Berglund in the 2004/05 season had become with his former club Färjestad BK again runner-up in Sweden, he moved to the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Swiss National League A . From 2006 to 2008, the former junior national player was under contract with the Lakers' league rivals, SC Bern , before returning to the Lakers for the 2008/09 season . After two good seasons, in which Berglund averaged about one point per game for the Lakers, he decided to return to Sweden and received a contract with Färjestad BK, with whom he won the Swedish championship in the 2010/11 season . After three more seasons, he moved to HockeyAllsvenskan at BIK Karlskoga in June 2014 .

International

For Sweden , Berglund took part in the U18 European Junior Championships in 1998 and the U20 Junior World Championships in 1999 and 2000 .
