Markus Peintner (born December 17, 1980 in Lustenau ) is a former Austrian ice hockey player who was active in the Austrian ice hockey league for the EC VSV , the EC Graz 99ers and the EHC Linz, among others . From August 2014 he was assistant coach at EC VSV, from December 2017 to July 2019 he was head coach at EC VSV.

Peintner began his career as a teenager at EHC Lustenau , at the age of 19 he switched to VEU Feldkirch for one season . He then played for EHC Black Wings Linz for four years before moving to the Vienna Capitals . After only one season in Vienna, he moved to EC VSV , where he played for four years. From the 2009/10 season Peintner played for the EC Graz 99ers .

In 2011 he returned to EC VSV, where he ended his career in August 2014 and after Marc Brown left, he became Hannu Järvenpää's assistant coach .

Peintner scored 483 points in 724 Bundesliga games and received 711 penalty minutes. He was able to win the Austrian championship title with three different teams.

International

In the junior division, Peintner played for Austria at the U18-C European Championships in 1997 and 1998 , when he was the top scorer and top scorer of the tournament, and the U20-C World Championships in 1997 , 1999 and 2000 .

He was also an integral part of the men's national team for many years. He participated in the top division World Championships in 2004 , 2005 , 2007 , 2009 , 2011 and 2013 . In 2006 , 2008 and 2010 he played in Division I. He also represented his colors in the qualifying tournaments for the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 , in Vancouver in 2010 and in Sochi in 2014 .
