The 2019/20 season of the Italian Ice Hockey Championship was the third under the name Italian Hockey League (IHL).

The top tier was the IHL Serie A with eight teams participating in the international Alps Hockey League at the same time . The actual Italian Hockey League comprised eleven clubs. The third level was the Italian Hockey League Division I with eleven teams in two regional groups.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the FISG canceled the season of the Italian Hockey League and Division I on March 9, 2020. There is no champion in these leagues for this season.

Attendees

Hockey Milano Rossoblu withdrew from the league. Otherwise the field of participants is identical to the previous year.

Main round

The main round was the matches between the Italian teams during the main round of the AlpsHL . The best four teams qualified for the play-offs.

New in the league is the newly promoted HC ValpEagle. The ASC Auer -Ora Hockey merged with the HC Neumarkt to Hockey lowlands , who took over the IHL license from Auer. Hockey Como rose athletically to Division I, but was taken back into the league.

mode

The eleven participants played a single round (20 games) in the first phase. The first six qualified for the championship round and played the placements for the play-offs there. The remaining five played two more participants in the play-offs in the qualifying round. In the championship or qualification round, the teams took a third of their points from the first phase (rounded down) as a bonus.
