Matthew "Matt" Halischuk (born June 1, 1988 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was under contract with the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League until January 2017 .
Career
Matthew Halischuk began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian junior league Ontario Hockey League , he in 2004 to 2008 for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors and Kitchener Rangers was active, and he with Kitchener in the 2007/08 season the Ed Chynoweth Cup won . The attacker was previously in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round as a total of 117 players from the New Jersey Devils selected, for whom he played against the October 29, 2008 Toronto Maple Leafs his debut in the National Hockey League was . In this game he also scored his first assist in the NHL. However, this was his only use of the season, so that the right-shooter spent the rest of the season with the Lowell Devils from the American Hockey League . For the 2009/10 season , the Canadian was again included in the NHL roster of the New Jersey Devils.
On June 19, 2011 Halischuk was transferred to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Jason Arnott with a second-round suffrage in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft . There he established himself as a regular player in the 2011/12 season and completed 73 appearances more than in his entire NHL career before. In July 2013, he signed a one-year contract with Winnipeg Jets , which was subsequently renewed twice. However, Halischuk began the 2015/16 season in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose , after he had only played NHL in the pre-season. After the season, his expiring contract was not extended, so the attacker decided to move to Europe and joined the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League in October 2016 . They separated on January 23, 2017.
International
For Canada , Halischuk took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in 2008 , where he became world champion with the selection. The striker scored the winning goal in the final against Sweden in a 3-2 win in extra time . In total, he got five scorer points in seven tournament games.
