The Moncton Alpines were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the American Hockey League based in Moncton , New Brunswick . The venue for the Alpines was the Moncton Coliseum .

history

In 1982 the New Brunswick Hawks were bought by the Edmonton Oilers and renamed the Moncton Alpines. Then they played as their farm team for two years in the American Hockey League . In both seasons, however, the team missed the playoffs for the Calder Cup . Both in the 1982/83 season, as well as in the 1983/84 season, the regular season was completed as fifth in the North Division. After the 1983/84 season, the team was bought by the Calgary Flames and renamed the Moncton Golden Flames .
