Denis Gauthier junior (born October 1, 1976 in Montreal , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and coach who played 566 games for the Calgary Flames , Phoenix Coyotes , Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles between 1992 and 2009 Kings has played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender . Gauthier celebrated his greatest career success in the jersey of the Canadian U20 national teamby winning the gold medal at the Junior World Championship in 1996 . His nephew Julien Gauthier is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Denis Gauthier began his career as a hockey player with the Voltigeurs de Drummondville , for which he played for four years from 1992 to 1996 in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . During this time he was selected in the first round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft as the 20th player of the Calgary Flames . First, the defender played in the 1996/97 season exclusively for their farm team , the Saint John Flames from the American Hockey League , before he made his debut for Calgary in the National Hockey League the following year , where he was under contract for a total of eight years was standing. During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season, Gauthier paused ice hockey. After resumption of play, the Canadian was committed by the Phoenix Coyotes , who transferred him to the Philadelphia Flyers before the end of the season . Although he was exclusively in the NHL team of the Flyers in the 2006/07 season , he spent the entire 2007/08 season with their AHL farm team, the Philadelphia Phantoms .
From July 2008, the left shooter played for the Los Angeles Kings . After his contract was not renewed after the 2008/09 season , the defender sat out of the league for the following season. Gauthier then ended his active career and was hired by the Voltigeurs de Drummondville from the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec as assistant coach for the 2010/11 season .
International
For Canada Gauthier took part in the Junior World Championship in 1996 , where he and his team became world champions. In six tournament games he contributed two scorer points , including one goal.
