Jason Pinizzotto (born January 13, 1980 in Mississauga , Ontario ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey player who played for Düsseldorf and Hamburg in the German ice hockey league and was under contract with several German second division teams.

Career

Pinizzotto began his career in 1997 with the Barrie Colts in the Canadian Junior League OHL . After an average first season in which the Canadian completed 24 games and came up with three scorer points , he moved within the league to the Toronto St. Michael's Majors . There the center was able to improve a little, but left the club again after only one season. In 2001 Pinizzotto got a scholarship from York University , for which he played from then on in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport , the Canadian college sports organization .

Four years later, Pinizzotto ventured into Europe for the first time, where he signed a contract with Fishtown Pinguins Bremerhaven from the 2nd Bundesliga. There the then 26-year-old advanced to one of the leading players and top scorers within the team, whereupon he was signed by the DEG Metro Stars from the German Ice Hockey League for the 2007/08 season . After a weak main round, in which the tech-savvy striker was only able to score 16 points in 56 games, he improved in the subsequent play-offs and contributed important points in the quarter-final series against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . Nevertheless, Pinizzotto's contract was not extended in the end, whereupon he moved to league rivals Hamburg Freezers in the summer of 2008 , for whom he played in the 2008/09 season . At the beginning of May 2009 Pinizzotto moved back to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga for the Schwenninger Wild Wings. For the 2013/14 season , Pinizzotto moved to the DEL2 in Bad Nauheim to the Red Devils .

From the 2014/15 season he played for the Bietigheim Steelers in the DEL2 and was at the end of the season with the Steelers champions of the second division. In June 2015 he received a contract extension for a year before he switched to the Eispiraten Crimmitschau within the DEL2 for the 2016/17 season.

In the 2017/18 season, Pinizzotto played for the Eisbären Regensburg in the Oberliga Süd. In March 2018, he ended his playing career at the age of 38.
