Josef Winschuh

Josef Winschuh (born April 3, 1897 in Gelsenkirchen ; † September 23, 1970 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) was a German journalist, entrepreneur and politician ( DVP , DDP ).

Winschuh attended elementary school in Gelsenkirchen from 1903 to 1908 . After participating in the First World War , he completed a traineeship at the Rheinisch-Westfälischer Zementsyndikat in Bochum from 1919 to 1920 . Winschuh gained his first political experience as a social secretary in a Düsseldorf metal works.

From 1921 to 1924 he studied economics and history at the universities of Düsseldorf (1921), Marburg (1922-1923) and Cologne (1924). During his studies he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Cologne, today's Corps Franco-Guestphalia. In 1924 he was promoted to Dr. rer. pole. PhD. He was later awarded the Dr. H. c. excellent. After graduating, Winschuh began to work as a business journalist. In this capacity he wrote for the Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, among others . From 1925 to 1929 he was an editor at the Kölnische Zeitung . As an entrepreneur, Winschuh was co-owner of a textile factory in the Palatinate .

After having belonged to the German People's Party (DVP) for a few years , Winschuh switched to the German State Party, which had emerged from the German Democratic Party (DDP). Together with Gustav Stein he tried in the early 1930s with the February Club to create a collective movement for the German bourgeoisie.

On November 1, 1930, just under two months after the Reichstag elections of September 1930 , Winschuh joined the Reichstag of the Weimar Republic as a member of the Reichstag in the replacement process for the resigned DDP member Koch-Weser . Winschuh's parliamentary activity lasted until the Reichstag elections of July 1932 , in which he lost his seat.

During National Socialism and in the first decades after the Second World War , Winschuh continued his work as a business journalist and publicist on economic issues. In 1934 he married.

Winschuh was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom from 1967 to 1969 .
