Benjamin "Ben" Meisner (born June 20, 1990 in Halifax , Nova Scotia ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper . He has been part of the EHC Freiburg in DEL2 since May 2019 .

career

After high school, which he spent at Ridley College in the province of Ontario and at the Winchendon School in the US state of Massachusetts , he went to the American International College, also located in Massachusetts, in 2009. He played for the college ice hockey team and studied physiotherapy. By 2013, Meisner had played a total of 114 games for AIC, conceding an average of 3.38 goals per game and holding 91.1 percent of the shots fired on his goal.

In March 2013 Meisner made his professional debut with the Utah Grizzlies from the ECHL . At the end of December 2013, he was transferred to another ECHL team, the Fort Wayne Komets .

In the 2014/15 season he completed an ECHL assignment for Wichita Thunder and Evansville Icemen before signing his first contract in Europe just before Christmas 2014 and moving to the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in DEL2 . He was on the ice in 28 games (including playoffs) for Bremerhaven until the end of the 2014/15 season. His achievements aroused the interest of clubs from the German Ice Hockey League , in June 2015 Meisner was finally announced as a new addition by the Augsburg Panthers . During his time with the Panthers, he made a total of 61 competitive appearances in the DEL. At the beginning of May 2018, Meisner moved to EC Bad Tölz in the DEL2 in order to receive more game shares with his new club than in Augsburg. For the Tölzer Löwen he completed a total of 50 DEL2 games, then he moved within the DEL2 to the EHC Freiburg .
