history

The history of Altenhof can be traced back to the 18th century. It was first mentioned in 1715, when Erich Philipp Ploennies listed it with a farm on the map Topographia Ducatus Montani , Blatt Amt Solingen , and was already named Altenhof . The place belonged to the Honschaft Itter within the Bergisch office of Solingen. The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 lists the place as Altenhof . The Prussian first recording from 1844 as well , in the topographical map of the administrative district of Düsseldorf from 1871 the place is again listed as Altenhof .

After the establishment of the Mairien and later mayor's offices at the beginning of the 19th century, the place belonged to the mayor's office in Wald , where it was located in corridor I. ( Wittkull ). 1815/16 lived 61 in 1830, 69 people in a village called Altenfeld . In 1832 the place was part of the first village honors within the forest mayor's office. The place, categorized as Hofstadt according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had eight residential buildings and four agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 48 residents lived in the village, five of them Catholic and 43 Protestant. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with 21 houses and 138 inhabitants. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888 ten houses with 58 inhabitants are given for Altenhof.

From the end of the 19th century, the place lost its independent position as a court and merged into the expanding residential and commercial areas of the Walder core town.

With the town union of Groß-Solingen in 1929 Altenhof became a district of Solingen. Since 1984, of the historic half-timbered houses in the courtyard, the sold-out building Altenhof 7 shown above has been a listed building .
