etymology

The place name Widerschein has been officially used since 1870. The word means the opposite of sunshine.

history

Reflection is much younger than the neighboring sunshine. The place is recorded as a single house for the first time in the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 unlabeled. The Prussian first recording from 1844 also shows the place as an unlabeled single house , but the topographic map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871 does not show the place. It was not until 1893 to 1895 that the place was recorded as a re-appearance on the measuring table sheets . The spelling of the place changed until the 1950s at the latest to a reflection without e.

The place belonged from the beginning to the mayor's office of Wald founded in the beginning of the 19th century , there it was in the corridor I. ( Wittkull ). The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with one house and six residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, a house with six residents is also given for return . In 1895 the district had a house with two inhabitants, in 1905 one house and eight inhabitants are given.

With the city association of Groß-Solingen in 1929, Widerschein became a district of Solingen.
