Loch is a farm in the Wald district of Solingen .

geography

Loch is located along the Locher Strasse named after the Hofschaft on the northern slope of the Lochbachtal in the extreme south of the Wald district in the border area to Merscheid and Mitte . In the south, on the banks of the Lochbach, lies the Locher Hammer. The Hofschaft Höhe lies on the ridge to the south , while Limminghofen , Scheuren and Bäckershof are located further south on the northern slope of the Viehbach Valley . To the east is Büschberg , to the northeast is Mummenscheid . In the north is Rosenkamp . To the west are Tiefendick and Heidufer .

etymology

The name of the court is derived from the Old High German word Loh , which means forest . Hole is therefore a farm located in or near the forest. There are also etymological connections to Lochbach , which probably got its name from the court.

history

The Hofschaft Loch can be traced back to the year 1648. In 1713 the documents mention Johann Schimmelbusch in the hole. The Hof Loch is recorded in 1715 in the map Topographia Ducatus Montani , Blatt Amt Solingen , by Erich Philipp Ploennies with a farm and already named as Loch . To the south the Locher Hammer is already listed, albeit without a name. The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 shows the place as a hole and the Prussian first survey of 1844 as a hole . In the topographic map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871, the place is also recorded as a hole .

Historically, the Loch Hof belonged to the Hackhausen family , but with the exception of the height it was surrounded by the Scheid courts . Only in the course of the territorial reform under the French occupying power in 1807 was Loch partly assigned to the Scheid honors within the newly founded Mairie Wald, but also partly to the Merscheid honors within the newly founded Mairie Merscheid. In 1815, the former Mairie became the mayor's office in Wald , the latter became the mayor's office of Merscheid / Ohligs . The village was divided along what is now Locher Strasse .

In 1815/16 ten people lived in the forest and 22 in the Merscheider suburb. In 1830, both suburbs are referred to as Weiler and Eisenhammer under the name of half hole and are listed together with 41 residents, 14 of them in Wald and 27 in Merscheid.

In 1832 the place was part of the Second Dorfhonschaft within the mayor's office forest, there it was in the corridor V. ( forest ), and still part of the honorary Merscheid within the mayor's office Merscheid. The place, which was categorized as Hofstadt and Reckhammer according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had seven residential buildings (three in Wald, four in Merscheid), three factories or mills (one in Wald, two in Merscheid) and eight agricultural buildings ( four each to Wald and Merscheid). At that time, 57 inhabitants lived in the village (23 in Wald, 34 in Merscheid), two of them Catholic and 21 Protestant. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with twelve residential houses (six each for Wald and Merscheid) and 82 inhabitants (35 for Wald, 47 for Merscheid). In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, twelve houses (five in Wald, seven in Merscheid) with 65 inhabitants (24 in Wald, 41 in Merscheid) are given for Loch.

With the town union of Groß-Solingen in 1929, the Hofschaft Loch became a district of Solingen. Since 1985, of the historic half-timbered houses in Loch, the buildings Locher Strasse 68, 76, 81, 83, 85, 88 and Locher Hammer (Locher Strasse 91) have been listed . The large half-timbered house at Locher Strasse 68 from the 18th century received the Solingen Monument Protection Prize in 2012 after extensive renovation by the Bergisches Historisches Verein, Solingen department.
