etymology

The place name Rolsberg is a modification of Röltgensberg and comes from the family name Röltgen . The Röltgen family is already in early times spread in space and Walder branched grinder family . In addition to the aforementioned names, the Rolsberg farm was also known as Roland (-t) sberg or Rulofsberg in the past .

history

The Rolsberg farm has been documented since the early 16th century. It was first mentioned in a document in an invoice from the Burger Kellnerei in 1504/1505. It was not until 1839 that the last delivery of this type was made to the Burg cellar. Also in the early history of the place there was a dependency on the Duke von Berg , who owned the tithes of the Rolsberg court in olden times .

In 1715 in the map Topographia Ducatus Montani , Blatt Amt Solingen , by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Rolsberg is listed with a farm and named as Rolsberg . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 lists the place as Rolsberg . The Prussian first recording of 1844 lists the place as Rohlsberg, in the topographical map of the administrative district of Düsseldorf from 1871 the place is again listed as Rolsberg .

Historically, the Rolsberg farm, together with Krausen, Friesenhäuschen and Bavert, initially belonged to the Bavert family . Only in the course of the territorial reform under the French occupation forces in 1807 was Rolsberg assigned to the Honschaft Itter within the newly founded Mairie Wald. The latter became the mayor's office in 1815 . The Bavert honor did not appear in later times.

In 1815/16 there were 46 people living in the hamlet called Roelsberg , in 1830 51 people . In 1832 the place was part of the first village honors within the forest mayor, there it was in the corridor I. ( Wittkull ). The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had seven residential buildings and ten agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 34 residents lived in the village, including one Catholic and 33 Protestant denominations. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with ten houses and 84 inhabitants. In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888, twelve houses with 84 inhabitants are given for Rolsberg . In 1895 the district had 16 houses with 81 inhabitants, in 1905 22 houses and 142 inhabitants are given.

With the town association of Groß-Solingen in 1929, Rolsberg became a district of Solingen. The buildings Rolsberg 4 and 8a ( front door and shed ) and Rolsberger Straße 55, 55a and 57, 57a of the historical half-timbered houses in the courtyard have been under monument protection .
