etymology

The place name has had two components since 1935, when the defining word Kotzert was added to the name, in order to ensure better distinguishability from the other Hof Stöcken north of the Kohlfurth in Solingen-Mitte . The word Kotzert is taken from the southern location. Perhaps the word Konradsacker means in relation to the ending -art , which is an ancient name for arable land . Sticks refers to the tree stumps that remain after clearing or felling (compare also the field name Stübben ).

history

The location of Stöcken probably originated in the first half of the 19th century. It is first recorded as sticks in the Prussian first recording from 1843 . In the topographical map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871, the place is also recorded as sticks , as well as in the measuring table sheets of the official topographical map 1: 25,000 from 1892/1894.

After the Mairien and later mayor's offices were founded at the beginning of the 19th century, Stöcken belonged to the forest mayor's office , where it was located in corridor II ( wood ). 1815/16 lived nine, in 1830, ten people in a hamlet called sticks . In 1832 the place was part of the first village honors within the forest mayor's office. The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had a residential building and two agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, eight residents lived in the village, one of which was Catholic and seven Protestant. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with one house and ten residents. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, two houses with seven residents are given for Stöcken . In 1895 the district had a house with five residents, in 1905 one house and five residents are also given.

With the town union of Groß-Solingen in 1929, Stöcken became a district of Solingen. After the city union there were two farms called Stöcken in Solingen, the Solinger Stöcken and the one in Wald. To make it easier to distinguish between them, the Walder Hof was given the name Kotzert on April 26, 1935 .
