Castle Caspersbroich is in Ittertal situated Castle in Solingen district Ohligs . The lords of the castle also owned the Kotten in Buschenhaus, Hagscheid, Sombers, Hülsberg and Zwengenberg. Until 1808 Caspersbroich belonged to the parish of Wald .

history

Around 1220, a feudal man from Count Engelbert the Holy settled on the Itter, made the swamps there agriculturally usable and built a manor house. In 1438 the Junker Caspar von Pertsdorf bought the property and expanded it into a knight's seat. From 1460 to 1480 Ritter Pertsdorf was in charge of the Solingen office .

By marrying the heiress Elisabeth von Pertsdorf around 1518 Caspersbroich came to the Lords of Bawyr , who sold the house to Bernhard Everhard von den Bottlenberg around 1676 . In 1772 the von Romberg family came into possession of the castle through marriage, but a few years later Clemens Conrad Franz von Romberg had to sell the house again in 1809. In 1810 it came into civil possession and was acquired by its previous tenant Johann Adolf Holthausen.

In the 1860s, the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft acquired the system that had a railway embankment built for the Gruiten-Deutz railway line directly in front of the castle. Afterwards, Caspersbroich Castle belonged to various entrepreneurs and industrialists from the Bergisch region .

In 1964, the Düsseldorf actor Claus Gorges acquired the now very dilapidated property and renovated it by transforming it into condominiums. The banker Alfred Herrhausen lived on the palace grounds from 1975 to 1984 .
