Simon Danner (born December 25, 1986 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing in the DEL2 for EHC Freiburg since January 2020 .
Career
Danner began his career in the youngsters of the EHC Freiburg , where he went through several age groups and played in the Junior Bundesliga, among others. During the 2002/03 season , the then 15-year-old was used for the first time in the professional team of the EHC. On November 1, 2002, he achieved his first scorer point in the professional field with his assist to the 2: 1 intermediate result in the 4: 3 win against Duisburg . This point also made him the youngest scorer in the history of the EHC Freiburg. After the team was promoted to the DEL in 2003 , Danner also played for the first time in the German elite league. In total, the winger came to 28 DEL games in which he could not achieve any scorer points . After a one-year interlude with the Augsburg Panthers , the 1.84 m right-handed shooter moved to the Frankfurt Lions , where he was given a sponsorship license and was then also eligible to play in the 2nd Bundesliga for his home club EHC Freiburg .
In the 2006/07 season Danner was part of the Frankfurt Lions' regular squad for the first time and played 52 games in which he was able to achieve 13 points scorer. In this and the following season he was still on the ice for a few games with the Wölfen Freiburg in the Oberliga . After a total of five seasons in Frankfurt, he moved to the DEG Metro Stars in July 2010 and scored a total of 23 points in the 2010/2011 season. When the financing of DEG was not secured for a long time after the departure of the main sponsor Metro at the end of the 2011/12 season, Danner decided early on to switch to Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . In the 2012/13 season , Danner suffered a severe concussion on the fourth match day in the game against DEG , which is why he missed most of the season and did not play another game for the Grizzlies in 2012.
International
Simon Danner has been nominated several times for the junior national team , with which he took part in the 2006 Junior World Cup in Slovenia .
