Markus Gleich (born April 8, 1987 in Peiting ) is a former German ice hockey player who last played for the Bietigheim Steelers . Markus Gleich has been a full-time junior trainer at EC Peiting since 2020 .

Career

Markus Gleich began his career in 2004 at EC Peiting in the Junior Bundesliga. In the first team equal played in the 2005/06 season and 2006/07 in the major league before he defended for the 2007/08 season for the ETC Crimmitschau . The same was equipped with a contract with Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in the DEL and played with a sponsorship license at ETC Crimmitschau in the 2nd Bundesliga until 2009 . After the termination of his contract with Wolfsburg, he went on the ice for SC Riessersee in the 2009/10 season. He was also given a license to support the Straubing Tigers . After the financial difficulties and the withdrawal of SC Riessersee into the league, Markus Gleich left SC Riessersee and moved to the Towerstars in Ravensburg for the 2010/11 season . With these he reached the cup final, was first in the main round and champion of the 2nd Bundesliga. After a year with the Hanover Indians, Markus Gleich moved to the Steelers in Bietigheim, with whom he celebrated his second cup win and his second championship.

In the 2013/14 season, Gleich reached the final of the second division (DEL2) again, but lost it to Bremerhaven. In the following year, the Bietigheim Steelers won the table with a 15-point lead and reached the DEL2 final for the fourth time in five years. In this he defeated the Penguins from Bremerhaven with the Steelers and Gleich won his third championship in just five years.

On September 18, 2015, in the third game of the season with the Bietigheim Steelers, he suffered a concussion with post-traumatic consequences immediately after a check on the head. Since then, he has suffered from the effects of a traumatic brain injury and a concussion and has been in rehab for a long time. As a result, he could not practice the professional sport as a hockey player and finally ended his career in summer 2017.

In the 2019/20 season, Gleich trained the U17 and U20 teams of EC Peiting. From August 1, 2020, he will be the full-time junior coordinator and head coach of the U20 team at EC Peiting.
