Paul John "PJ" Fenton III. (Born August 26, 1985 in Springfield , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player who has played for the Fort Wayne Komets from the ECHL since July 2015 . His father Paul was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Fenton, whose father played over 400 games in the National Hockey League , first played between 2004 and 2008 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Hockey East , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . After he knew how to convince in his rookie season with 25 points from 38 games, the San Jose Sharks , the last career station of his father, selected him in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in 162nd place. However, the left winger stayed three more seasons at the university and collected 95 points in 138 matches there in four years.
After the end of the 2007/08 college game year, the Sharks signed the striker and used him in the American Hockey League for the rest of the season with their farm team , the Worcester Sharks . The American also spent the following game year in Worcester, but also had to play a few games for the Phoenix RoadRunners , another cooperation partner in San Jose, in the ECHL . In his first full year as a professional, Fenton made a total of 66 appearances in both leagues, in which he scored 25 points.
Since the Sharks did not renew their contract with him after the end of the 2008/09 season , the Heilbronner Falken from the 2nd Bundesliga invited the striker to the training camp in August. His achievements finally helped him to get a contract there for the 2009/10 season . In the 2010/11 season , Fenton played for the DEG Metro Stars in the DEL , before moving to the Bietigheim Steelers from the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga . With these he won the DEB Cup in 2012 and 2013 and the championship of the 2nd Bundesliga in 2013. After this success he returned to the Heilbronner Falken, but left them after just one season and signed with league rivals EV Landshut .
