The DEB-Pokal was organized by the German Ice Hockey Association and the Ice Hockey Game Operating Company in the 2011/12 season for the third time since the tournament was redesigned in 2009. 31 clubs from last year's 2nd Bundesliga and ice hockey league , some new league clubs , the regional league champions and the German U20 national ice hockey team were involved . Teams from the highest German league did not take part.

In addition to the crystal challenge cup, the winner of the competition, which was played in the knockout system , also received a prize. The total prize money was 22,000 euros. The competition began on September 17, 2011, and the final took place on March 6, 2012.

mode

The entire cup was played in simple knockout rounds. For the drawing of the fixtures, all teams were drawn from the same pot in each round, with the U20 selection always going away. Home rights always had the lower class, in case of equality the first club drawn.
