The German Ice Hockey Cup was played for the fourth time in the 2005/06 season by the German Ice Hockey Federation in cooperation with the German Ice Hockey League and the Ice Hockey Game Operating Company.

The game date for the first round was September 4, the second round was played on October 25, 2005. The quarter-finals took place on November 22nd, the semi-finals on January 31st, 2006, before the cup winners were determined in the final on February 25th .

The first round took place on September 4, 2005, with the game in Freiburg already taking place on August 28, 2005 and the game in Munich being postponed to September 11, 2005. The pairings were drawn as part of the U20 international match between Germany and Switzerland in Füssen on July 16.

2nd round

The draw for the second round of the game took place in Munich on September 11th, following the game in the first round of the EHC Munich cup against the Kölner Haie. The 2nd round was played on October 25, 2005.

The early game of the DEG Metro Stars against the Füchse Duisburg on October 11, 2005 was canceled after the first third because the Duisburgers no longer had a goalkeeper available. Goalkeeper Patrick Koslow was injured in a Bengali fire while running in, the back-up goalkeeper Christian Rohde could not be used due to a knee injury. After Duisburg withdrew their protest regarding the duty of care, the game was scored.

Quarter finals

The game date for the quarter-finals was November 22, 2005. In the course of the game between the Nürnberg Ice Tigers and the DEG Metro Stars on October 30, 2005, the drawing was made by the Nuremberg national handball player Miriam Simakova .

Surprisingly, the second division Eisbären Regensburg won 6-1 against a youth selection of the reigning German champions Eisbären Berlin. This makes the Regensburg team the first second division team in the semi-finals of the cup.
