Turbomeca Makila
The Turbomeca Makila is a shaft turbine from the French manufacturer Safran Helicopter Engines specially designed to drive helicopters .
history
The first run of the engine took place in 1977 and from 1980 it was launched on the market. Up to now (2/2006) it has been produced in five variants. To date (early 2013) around 2200 pieces of this type have been produced.
Technical specifications
The engine has two separate shafts. The gas generator consists of a four-stage compressor, the first three stages having an axial design, the fourth being radial. The combustion chamber is designed as an annular combustion chamber and works on a two-stage axial turbine. The power turbine is also designed as a two-stage axial turbine. The output speed is approximately 23,000 min -1 . The engine has had FADEC controls since 1985 .
