Christopher "Chris" Joseph (born September 10, 1969 in Burnaby , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played 541 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins , Edmonton Oilers , Tampa Bay Lightning , Vancouver between 1985 and 2006 Canucks , Philadelphia Flyers , Phoenix Coyotes and Atlanta Thrashers played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender . In theIn the German Ice Hockey League he was active for Adler Mannheim between 2002 and 2005 .
Career
The 1.83 m tall defender began his career with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft as fifth in the first round by the Pittsburgh Penguins .
During his first NHL season , the left shooter was transferred with Craig Simpson for Paul Coffey to the Edmonton Oilers, for whom he was on the ice for the next six years and with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 1988 and 1990 . Again and again, however, Joseph was also used with the Cape Breton Oilers , the Edmonton farm team in the AHL . During the 1993/94 season , the Canadian moved to the Tampa Bay Lightning, over which he came back to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the next season . In 1996 Joseph was transferred to the Vancouver Canucks, which he left after a two-year interlude with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 1999/00 season in the direction of Phoenix Coyotes. Chris Joseph's last position in the NHL was the Atlanta Thrashers, from where he moved to Turun Palloseura in the Finnish SM-liiga in 2001 .
Between 2002 and 2005 the defender played for the DEL record champions Adler Mannheim, Joseph ended his career after the 2005/06 season with the Italian first division club HC Milano Vipers .
