Michael "Mike" Heidt (* 4. November 1963 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a former German - Canadian ice hockey player , who for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League and for Adler Mannheim and EV Landshut in the German Ice Hockey League played .
Player career
The 1.86 m tall defender began his career with the Calgary Wranglers in the Canadian Junior League WHL , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft as 27th in the second round of the Los Angeles Kings .
In the 1983/84 season , the left shooter completed his only NHL missions for the Kings in the first half of October, otherwise he was used in lower-class farm teams of the Los Angeles franchise . In 1986 the Canadian moved to the 2nd German Bundesliga for SV Bayreuth , for which he was on the ice for one and a half seasons.
After a brief engagement with the second division club EC Hedos Munich , Heidt finally moved to the ice hockey Bundesliga in 1988 for Schwenninger ERC , which he left after two years for SB Rosenheim . At Bayern, the defender completed his most successful season to date in Germany in the 1991/92 season: Heidt was named the best defender in both regular time and play-offs and was also appointed to the Bundesliga All-Star Team 1991/92 . After this season, the Canadian with German citizenship signed a contract with league rivals Mannheimer ERC, for whose outsourced professional team he was on the ice even after the new DEL was founded in 1994 . Heidt finally ended his career after the 1997/98 DEL season at EV Landshut .
International
For the German national team Mike Heidt was both the 1992 Olympics and at the World Ice Hockey Championships in 1992 and 1996 on the ice. He also graduated with the Team Germany the 1996 World Cup of Hockey .
