history

The Granby Prédateurs were relocated from Granby , Québec , to Sydney, Nova Scotia, in 1997 and renamed Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. In their first three seasons in the QMJHL, they immediately reached the playoffs for the Coupe du Président , but were eliminated in the first round. The Eagles, who have so far reached at least the first playoff round in every season, qualified for the finals for the first time in the 2001/02 season, but lost 4-1 to Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the best-of-seven series Wins. In the 2006/07 season, the Eagles moved into the final of the QMJHL for the second and so far last time, losing to the Foreurs after victories over the St. John's Fog Devils (4: 0) and Acadie-Bathurs Titan (4: 1) de Val-d'Or just 3: 4. In the 2008/09 season Cape Breton failed after a sweep against the Saint John Sea Dogs in the first round in round 2 with 3: 4 victories at the Remparts de Québec .

In August 2019, the team renamed itself Cape Breton Eagles and from now on also competes under a new logo.
