William Carrier (born December 20, 1994 in LaSalle , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League since June 2017 . Previously, the left winger spent three years with the Buffalo Sabers organization .

Career

Carrier spent his junior years between 2010 and 2014 in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . There he played for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles until January 2014 , before moving to the Voltigeurs de Drummondville within the league . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2013 in the second round in 57th position by the St. Louis Blues from the National Hockey League . They signed him up in August of the same year. However, his rights for the professional area became part of a transfer deal in February 2014. The Blues secured the services of Ryan Miller and Steve Ott from the Buffalo Sabers and in return gave up Carrier together with Jaroslav Halák , Chris Stewart and a first-round vote in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft .

After the striker ended the 2013-14 season in Drummondville, he moved to the Sabers organization. There he was used exclusively in the Rochester Americans farm team in the American Hockey League in the two game years between 2014 and 2016 . During the 2016/17 season , he finally made his NHL debut for Buffalo in early November and made 41 appearances for the Sabers by the end of the season.

In June 2017, Carrier was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft . Additionally, Buffalo sent a six- round suffrage for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft to Vegas to protect other players on their team from voting. With the team he surprisingly reached the final of the Stanley Cup in the 2018 playoffs , but lost to the Washington Capitals there .

International

For his home country, Carrier played at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2011 for Team Canada Québec and at the U18 Junior World Championship in 2012 in the Czech Republic . He won the bronze medal with the team, but remained pointless in seven tournament games.
