Mark Justin Roiland (born February 21, 1980 in Stockton , California ) is an American voice actor , screenwriter and television producer . Together with Dan Harmon , he is the creator and showrunner of the animated series Rick and Morty .

Life

Roiland grew up in Manteca, California . After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles .

In 2004 Roiland joined the film collective Channel 101 directed by Rob Schrab and Dan Harmon . In addition to various appearances as an actor and speaker in various short films and skits by the group, the group also made the first short films. This was followed by several appearances on the television series The Sarah Silverman Program. In the further course of his career, Roiland was mainly active as a voice actor and can be heard in the cartoon series Adventure Time with Finn and Jake and Welcome to Gravity Falls .

Together with Dan Harmon he created the animated science fiction series Rick and Morty , in which he also speaks the two main characters.

His sister Amy Roiland is an actress.
