Cody Glass (born April 1, 1999 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League since July 2017 and has been playing the center since October 2019 .
Career
Cody Glass was born in Winnipeg and played there in his youth for the Winnipeg Hawks and the Winnipeg Thrashers, among others . Towards the end of the 2014/15 season he moved to the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League (WHL), the highest-ranking junior league in the region, in which he achieved average values with 27 scorer points from 65 games in his rookie season . However, the center significantly increased this statistic in the following season 2016/17, with 94 points from 69 games, a point average of well over 1.0 per game, so that he was elected to the WHL (West) First All-Star Team and invited to the CHL Top Prospects Game . In addition, he led the Winterhawks in the scorer ranking. In the subsequent NHL Entry Draft 2017 , the Canadian was considered in sixth position by the Vegas Golden Knights , making him the first player of the newly founded franchise to be selected in the draft . The Golden Knights provided Glass with an entry-level contract in July 2017 , before returning to Portland for the time being in the WHL. There he confirmed his previously shown achievements and was considered again in the WHL (West) First All-Star Team in the following two years .
At the end of the 2018/19 season, in which he had to take a long break due to a knee injury, Glass switched to the organization of the Golden Knights by joining their farm team from the American Hockey League (AHL), the Chicago Wolves . In the following AHL playoffs for the Calder Cup , he made a significant contribution to the team's entry into the finals with 15 points, but the Wolves were subsequently defeated by the Charlotte Checkers with 1: 4. In the subsequent preparation for the 2019/20 season, the attacker earned a place in the Golden Knights squad and made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) at the beginning of October 2019 .
International
Glass gained his first international experience at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2015 , where he finished fourth with Team Canada Red . He then represented the U18 team in his home country at the 2017 U18 World Cup , where he finished fifth with the team. With the U20 national team of Canada , the attacker finally took part in the U20 World Cup 2019 , in which the medal ranks were again missed with a sixth place.
