Ryan F. Craig (born January 6, 1982 in Abbotsford , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current coach who played 209 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning , Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue during his active career between 1998 and 2017 Jackets in the National Hockey League . Craig has been assistant coach for the Vegas Golden Knights from the NHL since the beginning of the 2017/18 season .
Career
Ryan Craig began his career as a hockey player with the Brandon Wheat Kings , for whom he was active in the Western Hockey League from 1998 to 2003 . During this time he was selected in the eighth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 255th player by the Tampa Bay Lightning . First, however, Craig was on the ice for one season each from 2003 to 2005 for their farm teams from the American Hockey League , the Hershey Bears and the Springfield Falcons , before the Canadian made his debut in the National Hockey League for in the 2005/06 season the Lightning gave. In July 2010 he moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins . After the training camp he was accepted into the AHL roster of the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins and in November 2010 was appointed captain of the team. After his contract expired, he signed a contract with the Springfield Falcons from the AHL as a free agent in the summer of 2012 and is also team captain there.
At the end of the 2015/16 season, he won the Calder Cup as captain of the Lake Erie Monsters , the Jackets' new farm team . Craig also spent the following season with the team renamed Cleveland Monsters before ending his career in spring 2017. He then became an assistant coach for the Vegas Golden Knights from the NHL.
