Tomáš Nosek (born September 1, 1992 in Pardubice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vegas Golden Knights in the National Hockey League since June 2017 . Before that, he spent three years in the Detroit Red Wings organization .

Career

Tomáš Nosek was born in Pardubice and went through the youth departments of HC Pardubice in his hometown , where he played in the U20 and thus in the highest junior league in the country from the 2008/09 season. The left winger gained his first experience in the men's field in the 2010/11 season when he was on the ice on loan for HC Chrudim in the first division , the second Czech division. In the following year Nosek also made his debut for the A-team of HC Pardubice in the Extraliga , where he subsequently established himself - in addition to short-term loan assignments at HC Hradec Králové . He was also part of the team that won the Czech championship in 2012 , but was only used during the regular season. The Czech made his breakthrough in the extra league in the 2013/14 season when he led HC Pardubice in goals (19) and assists (25), so that in June 2014 he decided to move to North America and without in an NHL Entry Draft to have been considered with the Detroit Red Wings from the National Hockey League (NHL) signed an entry contract.

In the organization of the Red Wings, Nosek was mainly used by their farm team , the Grand Rapids Griffins , in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he also established himself as a regular scorer. At the same time, he was selected in the KHL Junior Draft 2015 in 97th position by Lokomotive Yaroslavl . The attacker made his NHL debut in December 2015, without being able to earn a permanent place in Detroit's squad. In the 2016/17 season he played a total of eleven games for the Red Wings before winning the AHL playoffs for the Calder Cup with the Griffins, leading his team in scorer points (22). Then Nosek was selected in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft by the newly founded Vegas Golden Knights and established himself in their NHL line-up as part of the preparation for the 2017/18 season. With the team he surprisingly reached the final of the Stanley Cup in the 2018 playoffs , but lost to the Washington Capitals there .

International

Nosek gained his first international experience with the U20 national team of the Czech Republic at the U20 World Cup in 2012 , where he finished fifth with the team. He made his debut for the senior national team at the Euro Hockey Tour 2013/14 , in which the Czech selection won the Channel One Cup 2013 and came third in the overall ranking.
