Alexandre Remi Picard (born July 5, 1985 in Gatineau , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active in the German ice hockey league for the Düsseldorfer EG and the ERC Ingolstadt . In the National Hockey League , he made a total of 253 games for the Montréal Canadiens , Carolina Hurricanes , Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers .
Career
Alexandre Picard began his career as a hockey player in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League , in which he was active from 2001 to 2005 for the Halifax Mooseheads and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles . During this time he was selected in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 85th player by the Philadelphia Flyers , for whom he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2005/06 season .
After two and a half years with the Flyers, in which Picard also played regularly for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Philadelphia Phantoms , he was transferred to the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 25, 2008 . For the Lightning, he scored a total of six points, including three goals, in 20 games by the end of the season. Before the 2008/09 season , the Canadian received a contract with the Ottawa Senators . In February 2010, he was given in an exchange deal to the Carolina Hurricanes , for which Picard played nine games before he signed a contract with the Montreal Canadiens in July 2010 as a free agent .
On July 5, 2011 Picard received a two-way contract for one year with the Pittsburgh Penguins and was subsequently mostly used in the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in the AHL, where he was also assistant captain.
From July 2012 Picard was under contract with HC Lev Prague from the Continental Hockey League before it was dissolved in December of the same year. Via Austria and a try-out in Switzerland he came to ERC Ingolstadt , with whom he won the runner-up in 2014/15. From 2015 to 2017 he played for HC Friborg-Gottéron in the National League A . In December 2015 he won the traditional Spengler Cup with the Canadian selection . In April 2017, his return to Germany became known when he moved to Düsseldorfer EG . After two years at DEG, he ended his career in April 2019.
