The Center Georges-Vézina is a multi-purpose hall in the Chicoutimi arrondissement of the Canadian city of Saguenay , Province of Québec . It offers a maximum capacity of 4,724 people. The Chicoutimi Saguenéens , an ice hockey team from the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (QMJHL), play their home games in the arena .
history
The hall was opened in 1949 under the name Colisée de Chicoutimi and was later named after Georges Vézina (1887–1926), who was born in Chicoutimi and the long-time goalkeeper of the Canadiens de Montréal . In 2008, the hall, which was almost sixty years old at the time, underwent an extensive renovation. The arena also has an ice rink with Olympic dimensions.
