Helvetia – Commodore was a Swiss cycling team that existed from 1988 to 1992. The team should not be confused with the Belgian cycling team Weinmann-Eddy Merckx .

history

The team was founded in 1988 by Paul Köchli . In 1988 Steve Bauer finished the Tour de Suisse in second place and in the same year he won the Grand Prix des Amériques . A year later, Gilles Delion was second behind Tony Rominger in the Lombardy Tour . 1990 the team had the most successful year, because in addition to the victories in the Tour of Lombardy and Milan-Turin , it achieved second place in La Flèche Wallonne , Liège-Bastogne-Liège , third place in Milan-Sanremo and sixth place in Amstel Gold Race . 18 victories were achieved in 1991, 14 victories in 1992. After the 1992 season, the team was disbanded.
