The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1989 was the 87th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 9th, 1989.

The race led from Compiègne , around 80 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended again - after a three-year break - in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The entire route was 265.5 kilometers long. 169 drivers started, 57 of whom were able to place. The winner Jean-Marie Wampers completed the race at an average speed of 39.164 km / h .

It had rained before the race and the track was slippery and full of mud. Six drivers managed to break away 60 kilometers from the finish line. This group was able to drive away 43 kilometers later Dirk De Wolf . Wampers caught De Wolf nine kilometers from the finish and won the finish sprint on the cycling track .
