The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1994 was the 92nd edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 10, 1994.
The race led from Compiègne , around 80 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The entire route was 270 kilometers long. 191 drivers started, 48 of whom were able to place. The winner Andrej Tschmil completed the race with an average speed of 36.160 km / h .
In the days before the race it had rained heavily, the day before it was raining and snowing, and a strong and cold wind was blowing. On the day of the race it was very windy and it was snowing out of black clouds. At the start it was three degrees Celsius, but the rain and snow subsided. About 20 kilometers after the Trouée d'Arenberg , the race was led by a group consisting of Tschmil, Nico Verhoeven , Johan Museeuw , Adrie van der Poel , Franco Ballerini and Bruno Boscardin . Tschmil attacked, and quickly a gap opened up behind him. He rode solo on the last 60 kilometers and won, despite being chased by a dedicated group of chasers around Museeuw and Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle . He was the first native Russian to win Paris – Roubaix ; at the time of his victory, however, he was a Moldovan citizen.
