The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1959 was the 57th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 12, 1959.
The race led from Saint-Denis , north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The route was 262.5 kilometers long. 76 drivers were able to place themselves. The winner Noël Foré completed the race at an average speed of 42.760 km / h .
It rained during the race. At Amiens , a group of seven riders had broken away from the peloton and was chased by another group that included a few favorites to win. A motorcycle collided with some of the pursuers and others had defective tires , so the chase for the leaders fizzled out. From the leading group, three drivers drove out: Noël Foré, Gilbert Desmet and Marcel Janssens . Foré won the sprint in the velodrome by two bike lengths.
