The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1962 was the 60th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 9th, 1962.
The race led from Saint-Denis , north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The route was 258 kilometers long. There were 76 drivers placed. The winner, Rik Van Looy , completed the race at an average speed of 38.321 km / h .
With 19 kilometers to go, five drivers drove ahead: Raymond Poulidor , Rik Van Looy, Emile Daems , Frans Schoubben and Jef Planckaert . The group worked together and was able to further increase their lead. Poulidor attacked on the outskirts of Roubaix, but Van Looy countered and won his second consecutive win at Paris-Roubaix .
