The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 2000 was the 98th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 9th, 2000.

The race led from Compiègne , around 80 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The entire route was 273 kilometers long and led over 25 pavé sectors with a total length of 50.2 kilometers. 178 drivers started, 66 of whom were able to place; 13 drivers reached the finish outside of the time limit. The winner Johan Museeuw completed the race with an average speed of 40.172  km / h .

With 60 kilometers to go, Johan Museeuw drove out of a leading group of drivers with Frankie Andreu on his rear wheel. The two overtook Max van Heeswijk , who was leading the way alone. At the Pavé sector of Ennetières , Museeuw pulled away and won the race, although he looked very tired on the last few kilometers. For Museeuw, his second victory meant something special, as he had injured his knee so badly in a fall during Paris-Roubaix two years earlier and then infected it that there had been considerations of amputating his leg. When he won in 2000, Museeuw made his most famous gesture: At the finish line, he pointed to his outstretched left leg.

The German Erik Zabel , who competed nine times at Paris-Roubaix , achieved his best result with third place.
