The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1976 was the 74th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 11th, 1976.

The race led from Chantilly , around 50 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The entire route was 274 kilometers long. 154 drivers started, 38 of whom were able to place. The winner Marc Demeyer completed the race with an average speed of 40.81 km / h .

With 31 kilometers to go, Roger De Vlaeminck picked up speed and pulled four drivers with him - Demeyer, Francesco Moser , Hennie Kuiper and Walter Godefroot . Godefroot had a puncture and lost the connection. In the last 20 kilometers, De Vlaeminck kept pushing the pace, when he arrived at the cycling track, he put on the sprint. Moser was able to overtake him, but Demeyer overtook both drivers and won.

The German Dietrich Thurau took 23rd place. The winner Marc Demeyer died six years later in his sleep of a heart attack.
