Charles Crupelandt (1913)

The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1912 was the 17th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 7th, 1912.

The race went from Chatou over 266 kilometers, in sunny weather. The exact number of riders who started and of those who finished is unknown. 70 drivers are on the list of results, but from 19th place without time. The winner Charles Crupelandt completed the race at an average speed of 31.3 kilometers per hour .

Charles Crupelandt was the first to reach the Vélodrome roubaisien , followed shortly after by six other drivers. His teammate Octave Lapize put on the sprint for Crupelandt, and Crupelandt won the race. His victory was celebrated particularly enthusiastically in Roubaix, as he came from the neighboring town of Wattrelos and regularly trained on the Roubaix track.
