The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1971 was the 69th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 18, 1970.

The race led from Chantilly , around 50 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The entire route was 265.5 kilometers long. 135 drivers started, 45 of whom were able to place. The winner Roger Rosiers completed the race at an average speed of 42.11 km / h .

30 kilometers from the finish, Eric De Vlaeminck broke out of a leading group of 30 drivers. He was quickly followed by Roger Rosiers, who soon left De Vlaeminck behind. Although he was chased by a group that included Eddy Merckx , Jan Janssen and Felice Gimondi , he managed to keep expanding his lead. His win was remarkable as he crashed once during the race and had two punctures .
