The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1966 was the 64th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 17th, 1966.

The race took place for the first time from Chantilly , around 50 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The route was 262.5 kilometers long. 134 drivers started, 58 of whom were able to place. The winner Felice Gimondi completed the race with an average speed of 37.546 km / h .

A very cold rain fell during the race. Although the race was top-class with drivers like Eddy Merckx , Rik Van Looy , Walter Godefroot , Edward Sels , Jef Planckaert and Noël Foré , Gimondi managed to break away 35 kilometers from the finish. Knowing that he would not stand a chance in a sprint final, especially against the Belgian drivers, he continued to expand his lead and win.
