The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1898 was the third edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 10th, 1898.
The race went from Chatou over 268 kilometers. 35 professional cyclists started, 18 of whom reached the finish line. The winner Maurice Garin , the first winner of the 1903 Tour de France , completed the race at an average speed of 32.599 kilometers per hour . The weather was cloudy with light showers.
This Paris – Roubaix event was the first with motorized pacemakers , although cars were also allowed.
