Édouard Wattelier (born December 12, 1876 in Chaumontel , † September 18, 1957 ) was a French cyclist.

Édouard Wattelier was a professional racing driver from 1896 to 1911. He was one of the racing drivers of the so-called "heroic" age who took part in the first classic bike races. In 1902 he won the May event of the 580-kilometer Bordeaux – Paris race , which was held twice that year. He needed 22 hours and 47 minutes behind pacemakers and was 63 minutes faster than second, Swiss Michel Frédérick .

Wattelier competed a total of six times in the Paris – Roubaix race , the first time in 1898 , and each time he reached the finish among the top ten. In 1898 he finished third, a little more than half an hour behind the first, Maurice Garin . In 1902 he finished second behind Lucien Lesna, seven and a half minutes behind . In 1903 and 1904 he was fourth and in 1905 fifth. His worst placement was eighth in 1901 .

In the Tour de France , Édouard Wattelier started seven times, but only reached Paris twice. In four events, he gave up during or after the first stage. Because of his success at Paris-Bordeaux, he was one of the favorites for overall victory in the first edition of the tour in 1903 , the first stage of which started at 3 p.m., but he gave up "in the dark". In 1906 he was seventh overall.

His younger brother was Antoine Wattelier , also a cyclist and seven-time tour starter. He fell on New Year's Eve 1914 as a soldier in the First World War .
