The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1951 was the 49th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 8, 1951.

The race led from Saint-Denis , north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The route was 247 kilometers long. 202 drivers started, 96 of whom were able to place. The winner Antonio Bevilacqua completed the race at an average speed of 40.355 km / h .

It rained during the race. In the final kilometers, a breakaway group of ten riders, including Louison Bobet , Rik Van Steenbergen and Antonion Bevilacqua, was chased by a second group of ten. Bevilacqua, world champion in the single pursuit in 1950, knew that he would have no chance in the sprint against Van Steenbergen. He ripped out and reached the velodrome in Roubaix with a lead of one and a half minutes on his pursuers. Although Bobet had a puncture , he still managed to take second place ahead of Van Steenbergen.
