The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1986 was the 84th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 13th, 1986.

The race led from Compiègne , around 80 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the city center instead of in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux as in previous decades. The entire route was 268 kilometers long. 179 drivers started, 57 of whom were able to place. The winner Sean Kelly completed the race with an average speed of 39.374 km / h .

The weather was humid and the roads were slippery and muddy. Sean Kelly attacked 18 kilometers from the finish and pulled Rudy Dhaenens , Adrie van der Poel and Ferdi Van Den Haute with him. Kelly won the race by a few bike lengths ahead of Dhaenens. It was his second win after 1984 .
