The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1923 was the 24th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 1st, 1923.
The race went over 270 kilometers from Le Vésinet in fine weather . 225 racing drivers started, 88 of whom were able to place. The winner Heiri Suter completed the race with an average speed of 30.10 km / h .
A group of 23 racing drivers reached Roubaix together. Marcel Huot made the final sprint before the finish on Avenue des Villas in Roubaix , but was overtaken by Suter, who was known for his strong sprint. Suter was the first driver to win Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders that same year , but also the first Swiss driver to win Paris-Robaix. Only once before, in 1914 , had a Swiss driver, Oscar Egg, even placed in the top ten in this race.
