The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1936 was the 37th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 12, 1936.

The race went from Argenteuil over 262 kilometers to the Hippodrome des Flandres in Marcq-en-Barœul , around nine kilometers from Roubaix . 155 drivers started, 40 of whom were able to place. The winner Georges Speicher completed the race at an average speed of 36.136 km / h .

The weather was rainy. Since he was not a good sprinter, attacked the three-time winner of Paris-Roubaix , Gaston Rebry , often from a group of 13 escapees out. Finally there was a three-man leading group left consisting of himself, Georges Speicher, and Romain Maes , of whom Speicher was the one with the strongest sprinting qualities. At the Marcq-en-Barœul racetrack, Maes was the first to cross the finish line, but the commissioners mistakenly declared Speicher to be the winner. There is a target photo (measure left, memory right) on which this wrong decision is clearly visible.
