The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 1952 was the 50th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 13, 1952.
The race led from Saint-Denis , north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The route was 245 kilometers long. The number of starters is unknown, 95 drivers were able to place. The winner Rik Van Steenbergen completed the race at an average speed of 41.94 km / h .
Rik Van Steenbergen caught up with the leaders - Fausto Coppi , Jacques Dupont and Ferdy Kübler - with a spectacular race to catch up. Soon only himself and Coppi were at the top. Coppi tried attack after attack because he knew he would be inferior to Van Steenbergen in one sprint. Together they reached the cycle track from Roubaix, where Van Steenbergen won in the finish line and thus won the race for the second time after 1948 . He later said that if Coppi had attacked one more time, he would have been at the end of his tether and would have lost.
