NGC 6000 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SBbc in the constellation Scorpio on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 96 million light-years from the Milky Way and is classified as a Starburst Galaxy.
The galaxy was discovered on May 8, 1834 by the astronomer John Herschel with the help of his 18.7 inch mirror telescope and was later included in his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
